On Sunday 18 June, the winning poets of the Calanthe Prize for Unpublished Poetry gathered for a wonderful prize-giving event.
Calanthe Poetry thanks Griffith University and Jena Woodhouse who sponsored the prize along with anonymous donors.
Prize winners’ poems were read and David Malouf was guest poet - along with Calanthe published poets, BR Dionysius, Jane Frank & Jena Woodhouse.

Poetry Sculptures on the Mountain 2017 & 2018: Calanthe Collective members were involved in lobbying and selecting the poetry for seven poetry sculptures, erected by Scenic Rim Regional Council on Tamborine Mountain, in Main Street (2018) and on Gallery Walk (2017). Poets honoured are Judith Wright (two sculptures: ‘The Flame Tree’ and ‘Song’, Raymond Curtis (‘The View Westward’ and ‘Spidercraft’), Mabel Forrest (‘Mountain Rain’), Jena Woodhouse (‘Green Dance’) and Aunty Ruby Sims
Pop-up poetry events 2016-2020: Calanthe Collective’s first poetry night was July 2016 with Anthony Lawrence, at Clancy’s Irish Bar and Restaurant. Subsequent guest poets have been: Raymond Curtis, Heather Shearer (three times), TJ Wilkshire, Geoff Sharp, Jena Woodhouse (twice), Chloe Callistemon, Jane Frank (twice), Eluned Lloyd, Laura Jan Shore, Vanessa Page (twice), Bronwyn Lea, Pat Moss, Nicki Cassimatis, Emma Simington and Maddy Dale.
